Statement by Senator Craig M. Johnson, (D-Nassau):

“The State Senate twice passed a cap to reign in skyrocketing property taxes, only to have our proposals blocked from a vote in the Assembly. Property taxpayers on Long Island and across New York State are screaming for property tax relief and Andrew Cuomo has listened, joined me and like-minded individuals, and made the passage of a tax cap central to his agenda for the future of this state. I regret that prior commitments and a family illness made it so I couldn't attend today's very important event.
Frankly, the Assembly needs to open its ears, listen to overburdened property taxpayers and not wait until January to bring the tax cap to the floor. I'm hopeful that the man who I believe will be the next Governor of New York can help persuade Assembly Leadership to join this cause.”
